About Ami

I was born and raised in Japan, where I completed 10 years of schooling in the Japanese education system. Japanese is my first language, and I’m also fluent in English, so I can explain grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuance clearly in whichever language helps you most.

I’m currently studying biochemistry at a four-year university. My science studies have trained me to break complex ideas into clear, logical steps, and I bring that same approach to teaching Japanese. Instead of making you memorize rules blindly, I’ll show you how the language works so it makes sense and sticks.

Because I grew up in Japan, I can teach you more than what’s in the textbook: how people actually speak in daily life, when to use polite or casual language, and the cultural context behind common expressions. As a current student myself, I also know how to study effectively and stay motivated when learning gets challenging.

I take every lesson seriously. I come prepared, adapt to your level and goals, and give honest, constructive feedback so you can see real progress. Whether you’re starting from hiragana or preparing for the JLPT, I’ll be patient, encouraging, and committed to helping you succeed.

About the lesson

- Bilingual Japanese–English tutor teaches speaking, listening, reading, and writing through real conversation and culture
- Fluent Japanese and English speaker offers personalized lessons in conversation, kanji, listening, and reading for all levels
- From hiragana to fluent conversation: native-level bilingual tutor builds all four Japanese skills with you
- Japanese lessons with a fully bilingual tutor who explains grammar clearly in English and practices real-life speaking

My lessons cover all four skills:

- Speaking: natural, everyday conversation, pronunciation, and keigo (polite speech) for work or travel
- Listening: practice with real audio like anime clips, podcasts, news, and dialogues at your level
- Reading: hiragana, katakana, and kanji, building up to manga, articles, and JLPT-style passages
- Writing: stroke order, sentence building, emails, journals, and essays with detailed feedback

Every lesson is tailored to your goals, whether that’s preparing for the JLPT, traveling to Japan, connecting with family, working with Japanese colleagues, or simply enjoying anime and games without subtitles. Beginners are welcome, and advanced learners can focus on fluency and refinement.
