I am a violin tutor for students of any level, a graduate in music from Durham University and currently studying a Masters in Violin Performance at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

About Amelia

I have lots of experience playing in orchestras growing up and throughout my years at university. I played in the National Children’s’ Orchestra for 4 years, the National Youth Chamber Orchestra for 2 years, and the Kent County Youth Orchestra for 6 years. Whilst at Durham University I performed with and led the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and the Classical Ensemble, as well as leading the orchestras in the gala musical shows and college theatre productions. Whilst at Guildhall I have performed with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra as well as string ensembles, session orchestras, opera orchestras and have taken part in multiple workshops with members of the London Symphony Orchestra. I have spent many years playing in chamber groups in which we rehearse and share ideas, before performing at concerts or balls. My interest in teaching was sparked by taking part in the National Youth Orchestra Inspire Programme, in which I ran workshops with children from senior schools around the midlands and the north-west, teaching and composing with the students. I also took part in the Music Junction project, in which we took sessions with students from schools in Kent and helped inspire and teach them about musical performance.
I have taken my diploma in Violin Performance, and have a 2:1 in Music from Durham University.
I have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to experience all of this, and I am keen to share what I have learnt with my students and help them to experience the joys of performing beautiful music.

About the lesson

The violin is my greatest joy and I aim to share my enthusiasm and help develop my students’ technical abilities on the instrument.
With beginners I will start with scales and fun simple pieces, and if requested work on ABRSM grades with them.
For more advanced students I will develop their technique and musicianship skills through working on studies, advanced scales and preparing them with a range of standard violin repertoire.
As each student will have different capabilities and challenges I am adept at tailoring my lessons to their needs.
I aim to ensure my students are relaxed, happy and enjoying the music.
I am excited to share my passion with you and start working on some brilliant music-making!
