About Tamsin

I am a drum tutor with over 7 years of experience helping school, college, and working professional students learn drums in a simple and enjoyable way. My teaching style is clear, patient, and always focused on long-term improvement. Students learn stick control, rhythm reading, timing, coordination, and playing techniques for different genres. I guide them through step-by-step exercises, demonstrations, and song-based learning. I make sure every topic is explained in simple language so students feel confident.

In addition to drumming, I teach related subjects like music theory basics, rhythm training, ear development, and stage performance preparation. These lessons help students grow as complete musicians. A unique skill I bring is my ability to identify each student’s strengths and weaknesses quickly. This helps me customize lessons and ensure faster progress. My mission is to help every learner achieve their musical goals with confidence.

About the lesson

My drum teaching methodology combines Communication, Creativity, and Flexibility to create a strong, enjoyable learning experience. Communication is extremely important in my approach because every student has a unique musical background and goal. I take time to understand what they want to learn, whether it is improving technique, mastering songs, building speed, or preparing for performances. Clear communication helps students follow lessons easily and feel confident at every step.

Creativity gives life to my lessons. Drumming is full of expression, and I want students to discover their own musical voice. I use creative rhythm exercises, beat-building challenges, improvisation tasks, and pattern experiments. Students also work with music tracks so they can feel how their drumming fits within a full band setting. These activities develop timing, energy, and musical awareness. Creative practice also helps students stay motivated and enjoy their musical journey.

Flexibility helps me design lessons that match each student’s strengths and learning style. Some students are comfortable with fast progress, while others prefer a step-by-step approach. I adjust lessons to match their comfort level. If a student finds a concept difficult, I break it down further and use new examples to help them understand. If a student wants more challenges, I add advanced grooves, speed-building exercises, or coordination drills. This flexible teaching style helps students learn without pressure.

Beyond drumming, I also teach rhythm concepts, beginner theory, and stage preparation. My goal is to help each student become a confident musician with a strong foundation in rhythm.
