About Charles

I taught for over ten years in AP schools in the United States, and then taught for ten years in both AP and IB (International Baccalaureate) schools on both Asia and the Americas.

I have also taught Middle School - whatever grade you are in and whatever your needs are, we'll start there and make sure you can advance to success.

I also have an extensive background in coaching debate, which gives me a unique ability to help you with research, argumentation, and communication (written and oral).

About the lesson

I regularly tutor students who are enrolled in AP or social studies courses or I act as your teacher to prepare you completely for an AP exam.

Some of my students prefer to meet 2 or three times a week for an hour, while others prefer one longer session on the weekends. Its up to you.

Unlike other tutors who may have taken the exam and scored well, I have been a teacher of these courses for over 20 years with a track record of success.

Lessons will be interactive and adjusted to meet you needs.

I have taught students from around the world: USA, Brazil, China, Jamaica, and Mexico.

I had the pleasure of taking socials in Mr. Potter's class, and it was truly an enriching experience. Mr. Potter's passion for teaching is evident in every aspect of his class, making it an enjoyable and engaging environment. What sets him apart is his genuine interest in the students' understanding and growth beyond just test preparation. I highly recommend Mr. Potter as a tutor, his style is both fun and incredibly effective. - Tessa B.

I took socials in Mr. Potter's class and you can really tell that he loves teaching. I always had a good time in Mr. Potter's class and I liked that we could talk about the day's lesson after class. I learned not just what to do for tests but also new things I didn't know and how to research and write better for my arguments. He also gave me the confidence to try a presentation-focused class. I am so grateful that I had an amazing teacher who was always willing to help me and check in on me whenever I didn't get something or needed some extra help.

His teaching approach is effective, and it has greatly improved my understanding of the subject. I would certainly recommend this tutor to anyone in need of reliable and knowledgeable support for their clases.

I was really struggling with my writing, and Charlie helped me step by step on a big essay project -- he helped me clarify my ideas, plan what additional information I needed, and gave me strategies for composing the intro and body paragraphs. He's got a good sense of humor and is very knowledgeable -- he gave me a lot of confidence in this project and in my abilities for future writing.
