About Eric
Eric Winslow was the dean of students and principal of a classical K-12 academy in San Francisco for over a decade. He has been teaching English, the Trivium (Grammar, Logic and Composition), Modern and Ancient Languages, the Humanities, and Western and World Civilization and Cultures to students of all ages for more than 30 years. Mr. Winslow graduated with a B.A. with highest honors in Russian Language and Culture from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. in the Humanities from California State University, Sacramento. He also holds two Associate of Arts degrees in Philosophy and the Humanities. He is currently pursuing a second Master of Arts Degree in Philosophy at San Francisco State University. Mr. Winslow enjoys the thrill of getting lost in cavernous university libraries and old European bookstores. He also enjoys riding his recumbent tricycle through the pine-laden Sierra foothills of Northern California's Miwok territory, where he lives with his iconographer wife, Lena, and their cat, Skipper.

The Socratic method of inculcating curiosity, personal inquiry, and a strong feeling of intellectual wonder and adventure is the spirit I seek to instill in all my lessons. My classes are for anyone who has given up on Language Arts, or who has felt like they were missing something when they were taught to write, read, and think about great ideas and the wisdom of the ages. The best way to find out about this exciting approach to learning is to enjoy your first free lesson with me. Come and see!

Eric is by far one of the most engaging minds I have encountered. The breadth of his knowledge and his panscopic perspective of philosophical, religious, cultural, scientific, and psychological schools of thought will leave you looking for where the horizon of his thinking ends. Every one of his classes I have attended have been deepening and an utter delight.
I've known Eric for 15 years or more, attending classes he taught, and engaging in many, in person and on-line discussions with him on philosophy, religion, and other subjects. He brings such a broad range of knowledge, study, discipline, and mental acuity to every thing he says, with humor and kindness, that every moment is both thought provoking and a delight!
I have learned a lot from Mr. Winslow. He's patient and thorough in explaining concepts, and very supportive of different learning styles.
have known eric many years now - met through mutual friends and some shared social activities. he is absolutely brilliant with an ever curious mind and an astounding breadth (and depth) of knowledge. you won't regret working with him!
I have know Eric since the early 90's in Russia. He has intimate knowledge of Russian culture, language and religion. As well he is well versed in philosophy it's history from far eastern, near eastern to western.
Talented, knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend Eric for any philosophical material you need help with. He will guide you into really understanding and retaining the material. A++ tutor!
I have engaged in many thoughtful discussions with him online. Eric is brilliant, very well read, and exquisitely communicative. Anyone would be lucky to be taught by him.
