About Mark
Learning a language should be fun – and what’s more fun than a tutor who’s interviewed David Bowie, Prince, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Robert De Niro and Bruce Springsteen?
Yes, in addition to being an experienced academic (B.A. Eng. Lit) and general English tutor, I began my writing career as the Rock Critic for the Montreal Gazette and have been published internationally. My subsequent work as a Press Officer with the United Nations means that my students have access to a wealth of conversational knowledge on music, culture, global politics and current affairs.
In my classes I always aim to build upon my students’ existing knowledge of the subject and help them progress towards their goals, be it a better grasp of academic English (both reading and writing), an excellent IELTS Exam result or improved communication in English.
Most students are aware of and comfortable with their language goals; therefore, I always listen to their needs and concerns. Once we have established our course or lesson targets, we carefully move towards achieving them, making sure that any questions are answered along the way.
My students do not need to purchase expensive course books or resources. I prepare my own materials and adjust them to every student, so that you have a lesson plan and your notes in one place.
As I am also a fluent speaker of French, I know the joys and struggles involved in learning a foreign language. Working with English has been my focus throughout my career. I am fully confident that I can help anyone at any level of fluency successfully navigate the challenges and difficulties of mastering the language. Let’s rock’n’roll.
