About Katia

As someone who did not grow up speaking French, has not yet spent time in a francophone country, and did not attend a French immersion school, I am absolute proof that excelling is attainable.

I fell in love with learning the language during my studies and realised I wanted to pursue it as a true, real-life skill. In 2025, alongside my Year 12, I sat the DELF B2 (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) through Alliance Française Melbourne. This diploma is issued by the French Ministry of Education and in short, makes me eligible to study or work in Francophone countries (which I think I definitely will in the future!). I hope to constantly improve this life-long skill, and am currently balancing studying for the DALF C1 in between my studies.

About the lesson

During my VCE, I found the traditional approach in my classes lacked specificity - a general approach targeting my whole class, but not what I really needed. So I took my studies into my own hands and took that extra step. I learned the ins and outs of VCAA and VCE, I perfected my pronunciation, established a solid foundation of grammar knowledge, and became comfortable with the language. In my opinion, comfort is the ultimate KEY!

I truly believe that everyone has the capacity for language-learning, and we all take a slightly different road. As your tutor, my goal is to work with you to play to your strengths, optimise learning methods, and help channel your unique motivation to improve no matter what you starting level. In my experience, those who are curious and keen to improve are already 3 steps ahead of most. But it’s with guidance and structure where your passion is transformed into success!
