About Ray Noor

My name's Ray Noor, but many call me just Ray. I am what my teacher called "accro aux langues" - addicted to languages! I scored a 50 in French in VCE in 2021 and will am currently continuing my French studies as an undergraduate at the University of Melbourne. I do translations of French texts in my spare time (comme je l'ai déjà dit, accro !), examples available on request.

Love the subject though I may, I notice that many students lose what makes French such a joy to learn, in between the monotony of tests and stress of performance. While French does indeed require much work at times, my goal is to help students revive a passion for the subject through a more human, reality-based approach; teaching the core skills, vocabulary and structures for each year level through ways that feel less like a to-do list and more like a language you can actually speak and use! Irrespective of your goals, I can guarantee you the aid to get you there.

About the lesson

- In person or online to suit, but in-person gives the best results!
- flexible length, typically no more than two hours to ensure retention (you can't cram a language!)
- Prior experience in casual tutouring of VCE English (score 49) and French.
- VCE Dux of Campus and recepient of award for proficiency in foreign languages (contact for details)
- All lessons tailored to suit the specific areas of the individual in need of practice or further explanation. Lessons adjusted to best teach the student, rather than forcing the student to trudge through methods that do not work for them.
- All school students (primary, high) who wish to either get ahead or catch up with their classes are welcome!

I'm self taught in the majority of my languages, so I know intimately the struggles of trying to figure out a foreign language when it feels like the normal methods don't make sense to you. Just like when learning our first languages as little kids, I believe learning French is about encountering it as a living thing, rather than a list of rules and cue cards. My teaching methods place emphasis on both flexibility and "remembering the humanity" of the subject!
