About Robert

I aspire to approach learning French as a fun adventure rather than as a chore. There are challenges that language-learners face (myself included), but patience and guidance are quite valuable. In a space without grades and consequences for taking longer to learn, students can feel free to spend as little or as much time on a topic as it takes for them to achieve mastery.

I work efficiently, but I always will ask my students to interrupt me with questions. In fact, I believe questions are one of the most effective ways to learn.

About the lesson

I’ve been studying French since seventh grade, and am now pursuing French at the collegiate level. I have developed a strong sense of the value that learning a second language holds. Being exposed to a non-native tongue at any level develops an intellectually flexible individual with an open mindset. I set these values at the foreground of my educational philosophy. Whether learning to order in French or to differentiate between when to use the indicative and subjunctive moods, my students will learn French with an understanding of the impact language has on their lives and vice versa.

My curriculum is primarily broken up into two divisions. The first is supplemental tutoring. This service is for those studying French who would like extra opportunities to practice outside of class. I can cater to students from middle school and beyond. Typically, lessons will vary in content week by week as the student’s instructor pursues different topics.

My other service is primary tutoring. This is for individuals who wish to learn or continue learning French outside of a formal classroom with me as their primary instructor. Our first meeting will consist of a diagnostic test to establish the proficiency of the student, and subsequent lessons will follow an educational plan that establishes the basics of the French language, after which we can begin to explore the intricacies of French.

There are many tutoring services out there, but mine is distinct because I offer work packets that allow my students to learn through active note taking and activities. These packets serve as notes for the student as well as for real world examples of the applications of their language. In other words, students will have myriad opportunities to use the language firsthand rather than being shown grammar in theory only.
