My name is Alana, a premedical student studying Neurobiology and Behavior in the College of Arts & Sciences at Cornell University, pursuing God’s plan for me to become a neurosurgeon! As a proud Air Force brat and first-generation college student, facing the American academic landscape seemed like a new frontier of unknowns! With more than eight years of freelance and volunteer tutoring in homeschool, high school, and university settings, I would love to work with your student, uniting my years of school support and my firsthand knowledge of AP Exams, the SAT, the Common App, ApplyTexas, and the Ivy League to help students pursue their callings and reach their fullest potential!

Hello there!
My name is Alana C., and I would love to work with your student! I was the valedictorian of my high school, earning my diploma with a 4.6328 GPA (the highest in the history of my high school), and I am attending Cornell University as an undergrad on a pre-med track as I pursue God’s calling for me to become a neurosurgeon.
I was the captain of the Peer Tutoring Lab at my high school from 10th to 12th grade, so I have experience tutoring students from elementary to high school level. Because I understand the importance of fully grasping material and believe that students all approach content differently, I am a patient teacher willing to explain the same concept in different ways multiple times. I truly believe in tutoring because I myself had several tutors in high school—and there should never be a stigma around the idea of getting help, especially in school. Thus, I strive to create a warm, caring learning experience in my sessions—because every student deserves a positive academic support system.
My Elementary level, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 grades were always impeccable. In Algebra 2, I often received grades above 100% and have tutored many math students to success throughout my years in the Peer Tutoring Lab at my high school. Furthermore, I earned a 750 on my SAT math section, which also denotes a strong grasp of mathematical concepts.
I have taken multiple dual credit courses, thereby receiving college credit for my writing skills during high school. I also received a 5 on the AP English and Language Composition test, and a 790 on the English portion of the SAT. I am also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese (which was my first language), so I understand the struggle of adapting to the English language firsthand. I have also tutored several Brazilian immigrants in basic English, using Quizlet and worksheets I designed myself.
