About Arden
I am a USF Creative Writing graduate with a strong background in English, writing, and storytelling. My academic training emphasized close reading, clear communication, and thoughtful revision—skills I now bring into every tutoring session.
I currently live and work in New York, where I balance creative work with hands-on professional experience. Being surrounded by art, literature, and diverse voices has deepened my appreciation for language as both a practical tool and a form of connection!
I love tutoring because I enjoy helping students understand their own thinking and express it clearly. Watching a student gain confidence—whether mastering grammar, organizing an essay, or discovering their voice—remains the most rewarding part of my work.

As a tutor, I focus on clarity, encouragement, and connection. I believe strong writing starts with confidence, so I meet students where they are and adapt my teaching style to their needs. I explain concepts clearly, use examples that feel relevant, and encourage questions so learning feels collaborative rather than intimidating.
Teaching method & techniques
I combine structured skill-building (grammar, sentence clarity, organization) with discussion-based learning. I often model examples, break assignments into manageable steps, and give constructive, supportive feedback. For creative work, I focus on voice and intention; for academic work, I emphasize structure and argument.
Typical lesson plan
A session usually begins with a brief check-in and review of goals, followed by focused work on an assignment or skill. We might revise a paragraph together, practice grammar in context, or outline an essay. I end each lesson with clear takeaways and next steps.
What sets me apart
As a USF Creative Writing graduate, I bring both technical knowledge and a deep love for language and storytelling. I’m patient, encouraging, and invested in helping students feel capable and heard.
Who my lessons are for
I tutor elementary through college-level students in English, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, essay development, and creative writing.
