About Julianna
I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a double degree in Microbiology and Public Health. I then spent 1.5 years working in a research lab studying Eczema in mice, before returning to Malaysia to teach English, Math, and Biology in a secondary school in Sabah. While teaching in Sabah, I also received a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, majoring in TESL.
I now upskill STEM teachers, supporting them in updating their teaching methods, to ensure they teach in more engaging and student-centered ways.

I prioritise my students fully understanding concepts, not just being able to answer exam-type questions. This will typically look like us exploring the topic through discussions based on resources I will provide, ensuring that we delve into practical applications of the concepts to support a well-rounded understanding of the topic. 1 lesson will last 1 - 1.5 hours, depending on the topic and will begin and end with basic assessments to help measure student understanding.
I started tutoring my peers informally in university and then spent 2 years in a Malaysian public school teaching and tutoring Form 4, Form 5 Biology students.
