About Mackenzie
Learning math is like learning any other language: although some difficulties may be encountered, practice makes much improvement. I love math, took gifted math classes in school, and I study math often nowadays, just for fun! Math problems help distract me from my real problems, and the gifted studies helped expand my mind to be able to tackle a problem from varieties of different perspectives to find the view that best helps the student in the initial understanding phase. We will learn by working on example problems side-by-side and step-by-step until the student recognizes the patterns in the numbers for themselves and can succeed at working problems on their own. I give instruction for the first few problems, then give hints to the student on how to best recognize and reduplicate the steps to finding the solutions to those types of problems, focusing on understanding.

My teaching method begins when I schedule the tutoring lesson after getting some basic details about what the student would like to accomplish. Once we establish a topic, I do some work before the lesson writing some example problems for the student and I to work through, also checking to ensure I have the ability to explain the concepts to the student using multiple methods.Usually, when a person "hates math", they have yet to have the topics explained in a way their mind can grasp. I believe that anyone can learn and love math. I am incredibly patient and encouraging throughout the lesson, knowledgeable of the fact that math is a subject over which many students may experience significant anxiety. I am here to help any adults wanting to learn math from geometry, algebra 1 & 2, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus 1, 2, & 3, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, differential equations, and proof writing. Don't be shy! I don't bite.
