About Jamie
I am a senior at Northwood University holding a cumulative 4.0 GPA. This May, I will earn my BBA in Accounting. Along with work experience in auditing, I have been tutoring for the better part of five years in an array of subjects. I have worked in face-to-face and online sessions with a wide variety of students, including ESL and disabled students. All students under my guidance passed their classes/assignments and gained greater fundamental understanding of the subjects that set the basis for future classes.

My teaching method begins with patience. I take the time to recognize how the student is feeling (content, frustrated, overwhelmed, etc.) and what is making them feel that way. I reassure them and break down their negative emotions into digestible parts that can be addressed within the session. I begin with the basics and having the student explain what they already know about the subject to fit the confusing concepts in with their current knowledge. My explanations include everyday examples that are utilized as consistently as possible (as long as those examples are aiding the student) and I utilize consistent reinforcement of fundamental concepts, which will help the student begin to figure out more on their own. My goal is to have the student gain confidence, independence, and critical thought with every session.
