My teaching approach for The Fiddler and The Music Major centers on building confidence, improving pitch accuracy, and enhancing vocal expression. These routines help maintain vocal strength and prevent strain during practice and performance. Pitch accuracy is developed through targeted ear training exercises, often using apps that provide immediate feedback. I also incorporate metronomes to help with timing and rhythm, ensuring their vocal lines stay precise and musical. Recording devices play a crucial role in tracking progress, allowing learners to hear their improvements and areas for growth over time. Expression is nurtured by encouraging emotional connection with the music and experimenting with dynamics and phrasing. I create a supportive environment where students feel motivated to take risks and explore their vocal potential. This approach helps The Fiddler and The Music Major gain confidence, refine their technical skills, and bring their performances to life with authenticity. I’m a singing tutor with over six years of experience and hold a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after a break. My lessons are designed to create a low-pressure, encouraging space where you can feel comfortable exploring your voice without judgment. I focus a lot on breath work, vocal relaxation, and posture, helping you develop healthy habits that support your singing. Mindfulness in music is another key part of my approach—it helps deepen your connection to each note and phrase.
Together, we’ll work on tone development to bring out your unique sound. I enjoy teaching a range of styles including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult music. Singing isn’t just about hitting the right notes; for me, it’s a powerful form of self-care, creativity, and building confidence.
