About Tom

I have been a professional musician since graduating from the Sydney Conservatory in the 1990s. Starting as a live performer, session guitarist and tutor, I transitioned to writing and editing music for television in the early 2000s. Since then, I have written, performed and produced music for successful television shows, documentaries and advertisements. These real-world experiences led me to develop an intuitive and practical method for understanding both music and guitar as a unified whole. I look forward to being able to share this system with you.

About the lesson

I like helping guitar players who feel like their abilities have plateaued. My lessons are designed to kickstart your progress, by unlocking the innate musical intuition that you already possess - whether you realize it yet, or not. Starting with a simple and practical understanding of the fingerboard, you will begin to feel the ebb and flow of melody and harmony at a deep visceral level, rather than merely be acquainted with it at a theoretical or surface level. As we tap into this ability, music will no longer feel external to you, but like a natural extension of yourself - emanating from within, and being given voice through your guitar. This is the essential foundation needed for gaining confidence in just about any musical situation.
