About Mischell

I have gathered experience in the educational field by being the classroom cum subject teacher at Leeds International School, Negombo, and assistant lecturer cum program coordinator at ESOFT Metro Campus, Colombo. Recently, I was working as an external freelance lecturer in IATT-SL. I look forward to starting my career in the educational field to gather more professional qualifications towards my career goal. I have identified that my passion is in educational management. I have succeeded in the educator and coordinator roles at ESOFT and in personal tutoring by successfully working with both strong and weak students while maintaining a great professional relationship with them. While in the above education management roles, I have worked with the Pearson diploma and Pearson Edexcel curriculum for IT and special individual corporate training. I have vast experience in developing course content and materials for the diploma, HND, and Bachelor's degree level programs, preparing materials for assessments, final evaluations, examinations, and projects, evaluating students' performances, student coordination, monitoring, maintaining the IT / Computer laboratories, administrating, managing and proctoring a Pearson testing centre. As an educator, I believe I need to keep my knowledge up to date and should train myself to cater to every aspect of student needs. Therefore, I have been on a continuous learning journey, completing an advanced certificate in child psychology and child protection in my homeland and a diploma in special education needs from the National Academy in Dubai. Learning psychology and educational needs have made me understand the importance of identifying every student's abilities and mindsets to develop them to the maximum in an efficient manner using different teaching and learning strategies. Due to this, I am always eager to learn different and successful methods of providing education. As a profession, I believe teaching is highly rewarding with the self-satisfaction of making a real positive impact towards the development of a child as well as with stability in my career due to its high demand. As I have experienced so far, it is truly a fulfilling experience to watch my students advance in their academics and towards success in life.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is centred around fostering a deep understanding of the subject matter while also cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I believe in creating an engaging and interactive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring concepts. I utilise a variety of teaching techniques, including lectures, hands-on exercises, real-world examples, and interactive discussions. I tailor my approach to the individual needs and learning styles of each student, ensuring that they receive personalised attention and support. Typically, my lessons are around 60 to 120 minutes in length, allowing enough time to cover the material thoroughly while also allowing for breaks to maintain focus and retention. As a tutor, I hold advanced degrees in computer science, along with extensive experience working in the tech industry. I stay updated on the latest developments in the field to ensure that my students receive the most relevant and up-to-date information. My lessons are primarily targeted towards high school and university-level students, including those preparing for the professional world. However, I am also open to working with learners of all ages who are eager to expand their knowledge of computer science. In summary, my tutoring methodology emphasises active learning, critical thinking, and personalised support, aimed at helping students develop a strong foundation in computer science and achieve their academic goals.
