About Cameron

I've always excelled in Mathematics, but I quickly realised that simply knowing the content wasn’t enough. To truly understand and retain it, I needed to connect it to real-world applications that mattered to me. This approach shaped my teaching philosophy: make Math relatable, and success naturally follows.

As a passionate sports enthusiast, I’ve always found ways to blend my love for Math and sports. From a young age, I was calculating statistics and analyzing performance while watching the All Blacks or Black Caps. This gave me a unique perspective on how Math can enhance our understanding of everyday interests.

Today, I bring that same passion to my tutoring. I focus on understanding what excites each student and using that to create meaningful, engaging lessons that stick. By making Math approachable and relevant, I help students unlock their full potential.

About the lesson

I structure lessons to ensure students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. Each session begins with a warm-up activity, such as basic math facts and a thought-provoking problem we’ll solve by the end of the lesson. The main portion focuses on practice, personalized to align with the student’s current school topics, followed by a Q&A session to solidify their understanding.

I use tools like screen sharing, Zoom, and interactive online resources to make lessons engaging and dynamic. My teaching is tailored to each student’s unique learning style, ensuring every child feels supported. Fun games and short breaks keep the session enjoyable and maintain focus.

Lessons typically run for one hour, with flexibility for shorter or longer sessions upon request. While I primarily teach one-on-one, I also offer small group lessons when requested.

With over five years of experience tutoring students aged 5–18, I bring current curriculum knowledge, particularly within New Zealand schools, and a relatable, easy-going teaching style. I’ve successfully worked with students of varying abilities, from those catching up to those seeking to excel.

I specialize in teaching students aged 8–15, covering primary to early secondary mathematics, and offer support tailored to their goals, whether it’s improving foundational skills, preparing for exams, or acing homework.
