About Kelly
Other than helping to pay for my absurdly expensive student accommodation... I have a deep appreciation for the Chinese language and culture. I quite enjoy meeting new people and tutoring as a job too, so what better way than to combine all of the three !

I grew up and studied in Singapore, which has a strong focus on both English and (my mother-tongue language) Chinese. I will teach Chinese through an English-speaker's perspective (i.e. Romanised Chinese) such that English speakers will find it much easier to learn. This was also the way I was taught and learnt Chinese growing up.
The rigour of each lesson can be entirely decided by you. Just let me know what your goals are (e.g to pass an official exam within 3 months and we can discuss further!
The typical duration of a lesson is 1-2 hours, as I feel that any shorter would not be beneficial.
Academic and Experiential Qualifications:
- Achieved an A1 grade in O levels Chinese (GCSE A* equivalent)
- Was drafted into the Bicultural Chinese elective programme in Primary School (for students showing strong potential in both the Chinese and English language)
- Later attended a SAP school for Secondary School (for academically strong students excelling in both Chinese and English)
- Received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education during my sixth-form
- After graduating from my sixth-form in 2020, I was invited to return as a History tutor for three months before the start of University
- During my sixth-form, I was also tutoring Primary School children at a family service centre weekly -- I believe this has trained me to break down complicated concepts and convey them in an understandable manner well.
Currently:
I am studying at UCL (Year 2) on a scholarship. I'll be arriving in London in Sep 2021.
