As a tutor, I work with students from middle school through high school, helping them improve their performance on standardized exams like the SSAT, SAT, APs and IB. Beyond test prep, I also focus on developing students' critical thinking skills through "think out loud" exercises.
To help students reach their learning goals, I challenge them to push the boundaries of their knowledge by asking thoughtfully crafted questions in languages suitable to their levels. By the end of our sessions, students can expect to have a stronger grasp of the specific subject matter they're working on, as well as improved problem-solving abilities that will serve them in the long run.
A typical lesson plan involves first assessing the student's current understanding of the subject. We then collaborate to establish clear, measurable learning objectives for each session. Step-by-step, students will see themselves making tangible progress towards solving the problems at hand, and ultimately, gaining the confidence to tackle new problems independently.
