About Bemnet

I am a second-year Human Biology and Psychology student at the University of Toronto. I have always enjoyed learning and, even more, helping others understand concepts that may seem difficult at first. I have over 5 years of experience tutoring children from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in math and literacy, where I have had the opportunity to work with students with different learning styles, strengths, and challenges.

Through my experience as a tutor, I have learned that patience and understanding are just as important as knowing the material. I believe that every student is capable of succeeding when given the right support and encouragement. My approach is to break down challenging concepts into smaller, easier-to-understand steps while making lessons engaging and comfortable for students.

As a Life Sciences student with a strong academic record, I have developed effective study strategies and a deeper understanding of how to approach complex material. I hope to share these skills with my students while helping them build confidence in their own abilities.

Seeing a student go from feeling unsure about a topic to confidently solving problems on their own is what makes tutoring so rewarding for me. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes because that is when true learning happens.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Bemnet, and I am a second-year Human Biology and Psychology student in the Life Sciences program at the University of Toronto. I offer one-on-one tutoring in K–12 Mathematics and High School Chemistry.

Having gone through these subjects myself, I understand that some concepts can feel challenging at first. My goal as a tutor is to help students break down difficult topics, build a strong understanding of the material, and become more confident in their abilities.

I tailor my lessons to each student's needs, whether they are looking for extra support with homework, preparing for tests and exams, strengthening foundational skills, or wanting to challenge themselves further.

During lessons, I usually begin by identifying areas the student finds challenging, then work through concepts step by step using clear explanations, examples, and practice questions. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each concept rather than relying only on memorization. Above all, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing their confidence because that is the key to successful learning.

I look forward to helping students reach their full academic potential!
