About Sydnee
Hi there! My name is Sydnee, and I am a third-year History student at the University of Guelph, minoring in French and Museum studies.
I aim to help students with their History classes, from elementary to high school. I thoroughly enjoyed history in high school, but I am aware that others may find the subject to be boring. My goal is to help my students better understand history and its importance to our present and future. I find that once I can understand a subject and its significance, it becomes interesting to me and no longer dreary!
I love learning and love to pass that feeling on to others through helping them with their studies.

My teaching method allows students to feel comfortable and confident in a safe learning environment. I work with my students so they can better understand the material, and what is being asked of them. I have tools and tips to help with understanding historical context and timelines, and understanding historical meaning and significance. I teach writing methods that encourage strong paragraphs, essays and analyses, so my students have the skills to attack complicated or deep questions in the future.
A typical class with me would reflect on past sessions with questions, comments, constructive criticism and editing. We will then move on to the work at hand, coaching them to come to answers and conclusions on their own, raising their confidence in their own knowledge. The lesson would end with a plan for the next session.
