About Emily
I'm a Politics student at the University of Edinburgh offering friendly, supportive tutoring in English, essay writing, literature, critical thinking, politics, and introductory Latin.
Through my degree, I've developed strong skills in academic writing, research, critical analysis, and constructing clear, well-supported arguments. I'd love to help students develop these skills themselves, whether that's learning how to structure an essay, get to grips with a tricky text, express their ideas more clearly, or think more critically about the world around them.
I am passionate about teaching and getting to watch students grow in their confidence and their skills while in an environment tailored to their unique needs. I hope to help students brainstorm, foster critical thinking skills, and develop confidence in their own abilities and ideas.

I have experience tutoring secondary school age kids in Latin grammar and translation, and as an honours politics student am qualified in teaching students of all ages English, writing, and broader critical thinking skills.
I think learning works best when students feel comfortable asking questions and figuring things out for themselves, so I'd aim to make sessions relaxed, encouraging, and tailored to each student's needs. Rather than just helping students get through a particular assignment, I'd like to help them build skills and confidence that they can carry forward into their future studies.
Lessons will typically run for an hour and centre around the student's needs and focus on the ways in which I can best support them.
I'm happy to work with students at different levels, whether they're looking for regular support or just a little extra help with a particular subject or skill.
