About Tia-Jade
My name is Tia-Jade, I am a final year student graduating this year with a BSc Physics degree from Cardiff University. Since the age of 3 when I started my education, I said I wanted to be a teacher and have spent the entirety of my late teens and early 20s gaining experience in mentoring, tutoring and teaching. For maths and physics, they are challenging subjects and something I struggled with in school. There was a lack of help and support available and I dedicated a lot of personal time teaching myself these subjects. This is why I want to teach, to provide the support that I didn't receive and help make STEM education easier and stress-free for my students. I will also help you develop a good understanding of these subjects beyond the baseline needed to pass exams, from personal experience you can't have one without the other.

My method of tutoring is through answering example problems relating to the content being taught and using visual demonstrations. Physics is very mathematical on paper, but I have found that seeing physics concepts in action through physical demonstration can aid in understanding the concepts being taught and often can help with deducing some of the maths. These sessions are designed to be 1 hour in length, including a 5 minute break, and I implement a no-phone policy to ensure focus and reduce distraction.
I have 4 years' experience as an outreach officer for my university. During this role, I have led workshops and sessions teaching students and the general public about different physics concepts, astrophysics and ongoing research and mathematical elements of secondary education level physics. I have also achieved this as a Lead Mentor with the Physics Mentoring Project, which was designed for GCSE age, and within the project I was an Advanced Connections Mentor which was targeted towards A level students.
My sessions are designed for GCSE and A Level students according to the WJEC syllabus, which was my examination board, however I can adapt based on the relevant exam boards including AQA and OCR.
