About Eloise

Hi! I'm Ellie, and I've always loved learning, particularly when I can get completely absorbed in a subject and discover how different ideas connect.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy reading, history and ancient cultures, as well as learning about different languages and the societies connected to them. I also love spending time with my friends and family and travelling to visit the sites I read about.

I decided to start tutoring because I really enjoy sharing the subjects I'm passionate about with other people. I believe that education and language learning should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or starting point. There's something really rewarding about seeing someone go from “I don't understand this at all” to having that moment where everything suddenly clicks, and I would love to help more people experience that.

About the lesson

I'm a University of Exeter student studying Classical Studies and Modern Languages, with Spanish as my language specialism. Having recently completed my A-levels, I understand the challenges students can face when preparing for GCSE and A-level exams, and I aim to make lessons relaxed, supportive and tailored to each student's needs.

I have previous tutoring experience through helping younger students while I was a Spanish prefect at school, as well as assisting my own Spanish tutor with classes for adult learners. These experiences taught me how important it is to adapt explanations to different learners and to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

My lessons are typically around an hour long, although I can adapt them depending on the student's needs. I like to begin by identifying the areas the student wants to improve before working through explanations, examples and practice questions together. I can provide help with grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, essay technique and exam preparation.

I offer tutoring up to A-level in English Language, Spanish and Classical Civilisation, as well as up to GCSE in Latin and Ancient Greek. My lessons are suitable for students who want to build confidence, strengthen their understanding of the subject or prepare for upcoming exams. My goal is to make learning feel less intimidating and to help every student feel more confident in their abilities.
