I am a determined, ambitious, hard-working person who is passionate about history; I want to teach others to love history and am stubborn with goals - my students never get less than they want with my help! Given my past experience in GCSE History and teaching my peers and students in other schools, I have found a fairly consistent method for achieving success. Typically, we will spend some time discussing the primary issues the student is facing and I will adapt the lesson structures to work around that. With history, the best way I have found is to begin by creating a basic timeline, we then split this into sections and create mind maps with what we can remember. Once we have done all we can, we add to these mind maps using the textbooks and finish a timeline together - repeatedly assessing the student on this with face to face rapid recall will improve their knowledge and confidence in the content. To further assure the student's confidence in content and their assessment skills, we will plan exam questions in each session, as they get closer to their exams these will become practice papers. Lessons will not likely be more than an hour per session, but it will likely be possible to sort a system of more than one a week, depending on the student's needs.
