About Mariella
Hi, I'm Mariella, a friendly 4th year medical student at the University of Oxford. I'm passionate about teaching and helping people get into medical school. I am originally from Germany, and moved to the UK at 17. This meant I had to develop methods to balance my responsibilities and learn new content while also catching up with GCSE content. The great study skills I learnt, meant that I went from bottom 20% of my year on the first test in year 12, to achieving the highest score in my year in the mini-mocks a mere 4 months later! This is to show that while A-levels may currently seem daunting, with the right techniques and support, you'll surprise even yourself with how well you can do!

My lessons are personally tailored to the student. The first lesson will include practice questions to gauge their current level and a conversation about their goals so that we can aim accordingly. Further lessons will include going over homework or past paper questions together and explaining difficult concepts in depth. Exam technique will also be incorporated throughout the lessons. During A-levels I was often known for being someone who would help tutor my peers/provide advice on getting into A-levels and have had friends receive multiple medicine offers after providing them thorough advice. I have also previously worked at my secondary school's after school club where I would help the younger children with their homework. Furthermore, I have mentored multiple pupils wishing to apply to medical school. All lessons are one hour long. Chemistry lessons are aimed for students 14+, however I'm happy to take on bright younger students as well.
