About Jane
I teach because I love my subject and deeply enjoy sharing my expertise. I believe that an understanding of literature, history, and politics, are key to living a meaningful life in the modern world. In a landscape of repetitive responses, original writing and original readings of texts are dying, and my passion is seeing students go beyond surface level reading and reliance on the thoughts of others - whether that be from YouTube videos, TikTok opinions, or AI-generated thought. I’ve been working for over ten years in education and have a wealth of experience working with all kinds of students. Some are looking for that extra bit of support to get to the next grade, some are looking for a challenge, some are looking to overcome barriers such as SEN or disappointing school experience; I’ve come across it all and am ready to offer the assistance you need.

I typically teach at A Level and have a track record of success with students both as a classroom teacher and as a tutor. I take a knowledge-based approach with frequent in-lesson feedback, particularly on writing skills. We will focus on clear, consistent, and concise writing.
I also specialise in close reading of Literature and historical texts, ensuring high levels of critical analysis which goes beyond the copy and paste offerings online and invite you to develop your own personal and well-supported response. The result is truly original work.
