About Joel
Coming from a working class background and helping students of a similar background in my sixth form as a literacy development officer, I was unsure of my aspirations to gain a place at the University of Oxford. Following my commitment to a strong work ethic, interview practice and exam preparation techniques I was able to achieve an offer and necessary grades. I would like to impart my work ethic and skills onto other students.

I have experience in being in a literacy development tutor during my time at sixth form for struggling secondary students. I achieved 3 As in English Literature, History and Film Studies at A Level and achieved a place currently reading English at the University of Oxford. I can teach ages 12-18. I offer preferably half hour or hour lessons, however longer is possible. I have a head-on approach to lessons in presenting students with different pieces or ideas in each lesson and making them react, much as they will in exams or interviews. I then like to deconstruct the student's reaction and learn to improve for following lessons and to ultimately achieve their goal.
