About Sogol
Hi, I'm Sogol. I'm a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the math department at Governors State University, where I hold office hours and tutor students in college algebra, applied calculus, and Calc 1, Finite Math. I hold a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and an MBA, and I'm currently completing an MS in Computer Science. Beyond the classroom, I've spent years as a personal trainer, which has taught me a lot about breaking down complex material, staying patient, and keeping students motivated through difficult material. I bring that same steady, encouraging approach to math tutoring.

I work one-on-one with students, walking through problems step by step until concepts genuinely click rather than just get memorized. I usually start from the student's own coursework or syllabus, so what we cover lines up with what they're actually being tested on, then rebuild the underlying logic before practicing similar problems together. I tailor my approach to each student's pace, whether they're in college algebra, applied calculus, or Calc 1, and focus on building confidence alongside skill, with the goal of them walking into their next exam or assignment feeling prepared, not just relieved it's over.
