About Thomas
I specialize in intellectual history and am currently writing a book with Cambridge University Press on the influence of social sciences in the US military in the 1980s. This work stems from my PhD research that I passed without corrections in 2023. I was the primary editor of the JHIBlog, which is the largest history blog in the world, so am experienced in editing and working with writers of all different kinds.
Before I started my PhD, I was a journalist with the New York Times, The Times, and The Financial Times where I wrote and researched stories and managed social media accounts. I have a lot of experience in writing so can teach students how to get their point across in essays and tutor them in politics and international relations.

I believe every student can get a first at university and As in their A-Level subjects. I have taught students who lost their confidence and through my teaching have gained high marks and gone to work in industries they did not believe would be open to them.
In one-hour lessons, from age 16 to post-graduate level. I structure the lessons around the needs and requirements of the student and I will familiarize myself with the syllabus and reading lists to prepare the students for their assignments.
You will learn the essentials and the higher-level content expected to gain a first in essays in history, philosophy, and politics at university level and A-levels.
Over the last four years, I have taught over a thousand students and conducted 1-to-1 tutorials to help students with university reading content (mostly international relations, history, philosophy) essay writing, and public presentations.
