About Anna
I am a university lecturer who has lectured, led seminars and tutorials and acted as dissertation supervisor for over 10 years. My doctorate was focused on early modern women's writing (contemporaries of Shakespeare and Milton), and I do still specialise in this period of literature. However, my teaching experience spans everything from the ancient works of Homer and Virgil to contemporary global literature, via the works of Chaucer and Shakespearean drama, 17th century poetry and the 19th century novel. While on a career break from lecturing, I still want to use my expertise and skills to keep helping students to grow their skills and confidence in studying literary texts - and to learn to love the study of literature!

A decade of leading university seminars and tutorials and acting as dissertation supervisor makes me an adaptable tutor who excels at matching my teaching style to the needs of my students. I have taught literary materials from medieval sagas to contemporary novels at undergraduate and MA level, and am committed to teaching which equips students with the skills and methodologies necessary to the study of any literary texts regardless of form or period: close reading, understanding critical materials, essay writing techniques. I would be delighted to tutor A level students and those preparing for the step up to university, as well as undergraduates and MA students.
