  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

In medical field, resuscitation training and simulation scenarios practice are among most interesting hands-on training programmes which makes you feel how to impalement your learnings in to action. Being an official American Heart Association (AHA) for BLS, ACLS,PALS and NRP since 2017; I enjoy teaching healthcare professionals how to save lives by simple maneuvers and seek how well they can demonstrate their knowledge in to action. My academic and research background make me be so interested in lecturing and since 2019 I have been a university lecturer for under/post graduate students. The main reason for being interested in tutoring at SuperProf platform is the fact during pandemic I found this website very popular, which gives me a wonderful opportunity to teach students from different universities even from different part of the world. I enjoy listening to stories of my students from different countries. Understanding their struggles are very important to me and I believe its part of my personality which makes me be very caring. I want to share my knowledge and learn more and be a beneficial person to everyone.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    Subjects I teach and interested:

    Cardiology
    Neurology
    Internal medicine
    Emergency medicine
    Anatomy
    Physiology
    Pathology

    Subject I like less:

    Biochemistry
    Microbiology

I mainly like to teach cardiology and neurology topics. In cardiology ECG, clinical scenarios and physical examination. In Neurology the anatomy, physiology and clinical conditions.

  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    · Communicate clearly and appropriately with students on all manners of topics.

    · Adapt to the student's needs and understanding what type of learners they are.

    · Work alongside the students, building a rapport

    · Have an open and honest relationship while keeping it professionally and respectably.

    · Be flexible and patient.

    · Using good examples to describe complicated topics and as much as possible making the lessons relevant to real life scenarios.

    · Push for needed progression academically

    · Provide the students with relevant information that is sometimes hard to attain.

    · Provide all of the students with an opportunity to ask questions no matter the depth

    · Help to develop their study skills and techniques

    · Provide exam tips where necessary

    · Build up their confidence both academically and socially
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Back in medical school during internal medicine practical session one of our classmates had to demonstrate cardiovascular examination. while she was auscultating for heart sounds, the professor asks her to check for carotid bruit. She was afraid of the questions that was asked while performing the examination and due to the anxiety being in front of the whole class, she was making silly mistakes. At some point the professor grabbed the stethoscope and placed it on the carotid artery and suddenly the student with a surprised reaction said that she's hearing heart sounds!. The group of students start laughing at her reaction because what the professor was expecting was totally different respond than what she said. Saying 'I hear heart sounds' while the patient is sitting and clearly alive is not a logical response. Silly mistake which are mainly due to anxiety and being nervous; can result in a really bad impression on the examiners eye. Anxiety can cause us to simply forget how important it is to act professional and present ourselves with confidence during examination. Over time gaining much experience, helps us to gain the sufficient skills overcoming our exam anxiety. The best way I can suggest is by practicing scenarios and keeping yourself inside different situations and not just your comfort zone; so that you can learn how to improve your practical skills and you will realise how to present things that are in your mind.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Challenges never end; they are always different, but the main struggle is time management and keeping revision. There is never enough time to read all the important parts of the subject and retaining the information is the biggest challenge. We make various mnemonics to remember complex information's but at some point, its even so difficult to remember the mnemonic itself. Medical education never ends.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is to be a better person in life and how to be more beneficial to my surroundings. I always have this saying that 'if Sun is not asking us to pay for the benefits that it gives to our living why should we not do the same and be beneficial to our surroundings without any expectations'. I think nature which is our biggest teacher, teaches us the true reason of living and the way of bliss.
