About Ivana
I’m Ivana, an experienced English tutor with a Bachelor of Arts and a background as a Registered Nurse. I’ve spent years turning complex information into clear, simple language that people can actually understand, and I bring that same skill and patience into every lesson I teach.
Working with children has taught me that confidence is just as important as grammar or vocabulary. I use a compassionate, patient-centered approach to English tutoring, drawing from my Bachelor of Arts background and years as a Registered Nurse where I mastered breaking down complex ideas into simple, relatable steps. No drills or rote memorization—my techniques blend creative storytelling, interactive games, and gentle confidence-building to make learning stick.
A typical 60-minute lesson looks like this:
We start with a quick 5-minute warm-up chat to gauge their mood and review the last session's wins (building that trust right away).
Next, 20 minutes on the core skill—like decoding tricky reading passages or crafting sentences—using visuals, real-life examples, and my "nurse's trick" of explaining why it matters (e.g., "This grammar rule is like following a recipe so your story doesn't fall flat").
Then 20 minutes of guided practice with fun activities: role-plays for speaking, drawing for vocabulary, or short writing bursts with instant feedback.
We wrap with 10 minutes reviewing what clicked, celebrating progress, and previewing next time—always ending on a high note.
What sets me apart? My nursing-honed superpowers: reading a kid's frustration before they say it, infinite patience through "aha!" moments, and turning overwhelm into small, empowering wins.
