About Sophie
I performed highly in English throughout my school career; I achieved two grade 9’s at GCSE and an A* in A-Level English Literature (achieving 97% overall and 100% in my paper 2). I am a patient but passionate teacher and strongly believe English has the possibility to be a success for everyone, with the right skills and understanding of the exam. I have a proficient understanding of the texts to frequent the exam boards and am competent in creating resources to help those to learn and revise efficiently.

I’d like to focus predominantly on your critical thinking skills, which are highly valued by examiners and what I believe to be the biggest life skill you gain from a qualification in English. Any text has multiple layers to uncover, which we will explore and constantly link back to what effect this choice by the author has on the reader. Lessons are one hour and completely flexible based on your own needs and what topics you find challenging. I have taught various age groups in a variety of subjects including English, Latin and computer science to cohort of students aged under 16. These sessions are aimed at those doing GCSE English Literature and Language, and those doing A-Level English Literature.
