About Thiru
I am a teacher of English with 34 years experience. I have taught in both public and private schools in South Africa and I have been fortunate to teach abroad in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. I have a Bachelor of Paedogogics majoring in English and Education. I also have a TEFL certificate.
I love working with my students. I strive to build a mutually respectful relationship that enables me to help my students realise their true potential. I will improve your written, reading and oral skills. You will become proficient in grammar, comprehension, poetry, reading, analysis of prose and Shakespeare!
Most importantly you will be comfortable in a relaxed teaching environment.

My lessons are fun and engaging. I encourage participation even if you make mistakes. We will use mistakes as a means towards learning. I am proficient in English and have taught high-school English for 34 years.
My lessons look to initially gauge your knowledge of the topic being taught and to build on that. Lessons usually start with fun starter activity, then a short introduction of the topic. The third part is development where your knowledge is developed through activities. At each stage reinforcement of your understanding will take place. You will always be encouraged to ask questions. Activities will be fun,interesting and relevan to your ability. We end the lesson with a plenary that quickly checks that you have understood what was taught.
