About ANNA
I have recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 1st Class degree in Modern Foreign Languages. From a young age I have been extremely passionate about languages and have seen the benefits of learning a language firsthand during my year abroad in Spain where I was able to utilise my skills to communicate with a wide range of people and involve myself in the Spanish culture.
I love teaching languages and giving other students the opportunity to also be able to communicate and enjoy the great benefits of bilingualism.
As a young individual I can still relate to exam pressures, therefore I really try to give students confidence and erase the misconception that learning a language is too difficult.

I believe that language learning should be fun and exciting and this is really taken into account in my lessons. With my knowledge of cognitive science, I understand the most useful ways new vocabulary and language structures can be remembered.
I begin by asking the student which areas they find difficult and I gather as much information as possible to create Powerpoints on the topics. I am great at breaking down topics to manageable chunks as I understand how overwhelming it can be. In these Powerpoints, I introduce new vocabulary, explain grammar concepts and design games and activities to ensure that the student has really grasped the material.
I believe that an essential part of succeeding in exams is to be familiar with the key vocabulary. For this reason, each week I set 10 new words to be learnt for the next week and I begin the new lesson with a recap/retrieval of previously learnt material.
I don't follow a set plan or curriculum, each of my lessons is tailored to the individual student so that they feel confident in the areas they are struggling with.
