About Marshall
Hi, I’m Marshall, a recent Bachelor of Science graduate in Chemistry from the University of Auckland, with a passion for helping students build confidence and succeed in science.
Through my degree, I have developed a strong foundation in chemistry, mathematics, and scientific problem-solving. My coursework and laboratory experience have included organic chemistry, spectroscopy, experimental analysis, and statistical data interpretation. These experiences have given me a clear, structured approach to explaining scientific concepts in a way that is accessible and engaging.
I understand that chemistry can feel challenging or overwhelming, particularly when preparing for NCEA assessments. That's why I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through problems step by step. My lessons are tailored to each student's goals and learning style, with a focus on building both understanding and confidence.
I have a genuine enthusiasm for science and enjoy continuing to expand my knowledge beyond my degree. I bring a patient, encouraging, and professional approach to every lesson, aiming to help students become independent learners rathe than simply memorising content.
My goal is not only to help students achieve better results, but also to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will benefit them throughout their education and beyond.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students truly understand chemistry rather than relying on memorisation. I break complex concepts down into simple, logical steps and guide students through the reasoning behind each problem so they can confidently solve similar questions independently.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs and usually include reviewing key concepts, working through practice problems, and preparing for assessments. For NCEA students, I regularly incorporate exam-style questions and past papers to help students become familiar with the types of questions they will encounter in tests and external exams.
Typical lessons last around 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged when students are preparing for major assessments or exams.
I have recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Auckland, where I developed a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical chemistry. Throughout my studies, I gained extensive laboratory experience in areas including organic chemistry, spectroscopy, analytical techniques, and statistical data analysis. This allows me to explain not only the theory behind chemistry, but also how it is applied in real scientific and research settings.
Lessons are suitable for secondary school students studying NCEA Chemistry (Levels 1–3), including those preparing for externals, as well as students looking to strengthen the mathematical and scientific skills that support success in chemistry.
My goal is to help students build confidence in chemistry, improve their problem-solving ability, and develop a clear understanding of the subject that extends beyond simply passing exams.
