About Haley

Hi! My name is Haley, and I am in my third year at college pursuing my psychology degree. Although I am not majoring in English, it is without a doubt my favorite subject to teach! I have always loved English, so I learned the importance of correct spelling and proper grammar at a young age. I am someone who believes that every person learns best in a different way, so my goal is to discover your learning style and formulate lesson plans accordingly. I always strive to use my psychology background to help me teach in a unique and engaging way!

About the lesson

TEACHING STYLE AND LESSON PLAN: I am a firm believer that every individual learns in different ways; for this reason, all of my lesson plans will be formulated based on each student's specific needs and learning style. (For example, if a student learns best by reading/writing, then this will be the backbone of the lesson, however if a student learns best with kinesthetics, then the lesson will include hands-on activities). Additionally, my teaching method uses techniques such as interactive activities, color coordination, and creative mnemonics. Personally, I struggled with spelling and grammar until I began using these techniques in grade school, so I enjoy teaching other students these tools that helped make me a successful student. PROOFREADING LESSONS: I also enjoy teaching the art of proofreading papers! I am well-versed in both MLA and APA formatting. I strive to help students edit and revise their papers while reinforcing proper techniques and tools so that they become confident proofreading their papers on their own! I do ask that if a student is requesting a proofreading lesson that they send me any rubrics and rough drafts three days prior to the lesson. This is to ensure that I have time to review the documents and formulate feedback. MY GOAL: My goal is to help students feel confident in their ability to use correct spelling and grammar both inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, learning should be fun, so I aim to make study sessions something students will look forward to. Most importantly, I want to provide each individual with tools to help them grow and succeed! I would love to answer any questions that you may have, so please feel free to reach out to me!
