About Ruby

I am Ruby, an undergraduate student at the University of Manchester, studying International Disaster Management and Humanitarian Response! The degree encompasses Geography, Politics, and war studies mostly, but overall reaches almost every subject at some point.

I would love to tutor to give back to the students who may be struggling to keep up or focus on their studies, as honestly too many students are underestimated during GCSEs and A-Levels! Ultimately, what got me through A-Levels were the words of encouragement, endless hours revising and of course the free periods spent at the Nisa down the road.

I understand exam stress really well and have been able to overcome this to achieve 988876 2D* and 2D at GCSE level and AAB at A-Level, which I would love to help other young people also overcome.

Considering I plan on studying matters of helping others, planning for disasters and coordinating responses to overcome the at times catastrophes, I think tutoring is a great way of implementing these values consistently, plus it's super rewarding for me to see other people progress!!

About the lesson

I am available on Sundays and days that I am not at University - I will have more info when my timetable comes through!

My lessons will mainly recap what has been taught in the student's lessons, to approach revision more effectively and identify any gaps in knowledge or writing. It may be that we look closer at exam papers and mocks to really work on what the student struggles with and/or is not so confident applying in the real exam.

I think this style would best suit students at a D grade and above, as my lessons are relaxed, person centred and ultimately a boosted revision session, as opposed to conventional tuition.

As a student myself, I don't think I would be able to freshly teach material as an official tutor, but I am offering assistance and encouragement in the student's studies. I believe that these are fundamental to progress and bring the student further than any textbooks can!

I am charging £15 per hour as I think that whilst I can be a great source of help for these subjects, I am also a student myself and therefore don't have the resources to teach my own created lessons.

We will use mainly your own resources given by teachers, though I do have my notes from Psychology Papers 1 and 2, as well as Geography case studies that will impress examiners and earn you them As and A*s!

I am open to charging less depending on reasoning and personal circumstances as I understand Cost of Living is pretty insane at the moment!
