About Varenya

I am a recent IB Diploma graduate from Kristin School, Auckland, with a strong academic foundation and firsthand experience navigating one of the most rigorous high school programs in the world. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science and Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, one of Australia's leading universities. Having completed the IB myself, I understand the pressures and challenges students face — not just in mastering content, but in managing the demands of assessments, internal deadlines, and the broader requirements of the program. This means I do not just teach the subject; I mentor students through the entire IB experience with empathy, patience, and genuine insight. My tutoring approach is structured, reliable, and tailored to each individual student, and I am committed to creating a safe, encouraging environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is personalised and consultative — I begin by identifying where my student is struggling and tailor each session around their specific needs rather than following a fixed plan. Sessions typically run for two hours, held three times a week, and are structured to balance concept explanation with hands-on practice. To support long-term retention, I incorporate active recall techniques such as Quizlet flashcards and encourage students to attempt problems independently between sessions and bring their questions back to me — this builds genuine curiosity and problem-solving ability rather than reliance on the tutor. I completed the IB Diploma Programme at Kristin School (Auckland) and draw on my firsthand experience of the curriculum to guide students not just in subject content but also in navigating broader IB components like the Extended Essay, CAS, and Theory of Knowledge. My tutoring is best suited to Year 11–12 students undertaking the IB Diploma Programme, particularly those looking for support in mathematics.
