About Alexis
My name is Alexis! I am a dedicated STEM educator who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential in mathematics and science. Currently, I am a senior at Angelo State University, pursuing a double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Chemistry, projected to graduate in May 2026. With over six years of teaching experience, ranging from various settings, I have developed my ability to work with learners of all ages and skill levels. My background includes work as a professional tutor at Angelo State University for four years, where I help guide college students through challenging subjects like Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Chemistry. Additionally, 1.5 years were spent working at Mathnasium-a specialized learning center-where I honed my ability to build foundational number sense for K-8th-grade students. This is complemented by six years of private tutoring experience across the K-12 curricula, giving me a broad perspective on how students learn and grow from elementary school through university.
The foundation of my teaching philosophy is based on adaptability and patience. I strongly believe that not all students think alike; hence, I do not depend on one method to explain something. I show various techniques for the same concept, first coming at the problem from one angle, then from another, be it visually, conceptually, or practically, until it finally clicks.
