About Bohdan
"What is essential is invisible to the eye," a quote from my childhood favourites, The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. As a boy growing up in Ukraine, I read the novel countless times, yet I could never fully grasp the meaning of that line. What should one look for, and how does one learn to see it? Years later, one of my Classics teachers helped me find an answer through another work of literature. True understanding comes from looking deeper, examining the core of a text and interpreting it through one’s own experience and reflection. In doing so, meaning becomes personal, alive, and truly essential.
To me, literature is unique among the arts because it offers boundless freedom of interpretation. It challenges us not only to understand the world around us, but also to better understand ourselves. That is why I hope to guide students through literature with the same curiosity and encouragement that my teacher once offered me. Great literature, in many ways, asks us to be brave: to question, to reflect, and to see beyond the surface.
Since then, I have devoted myself to the study of classical literature, with particular interests in the Ancient world, English literature and poetry, German and French literature, as well as Ukrainian and Russian literary traditions. I have also tutored students both at school and at university, helping them develop confidence in discussion, interpretation, and literary analysis. I would love to explore the world of literature together, looking more deeply not only into texts, but also into the ideas and emotions that make them timeless at a glance.

For each class, I prepare a set of discussion questions alongside slides focused on a specific literary theme, movement, or historical period. My teaching style is highly discussion-based, encouraging students to develop and articulate their own interpretations while engaging critically with texts. I aim to create a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment in which students feel confident exploring a wide range of literary topics across different periods and genres.
I have previously tutored students both in secondary school and during my first year at university, helping them strengthen their analytical writing, close reading, and discussion skills. I also completed AP English Literature in high school, achieving a score of 4.
Lessons are designed for students aged approximately 15–20 who already possess a foundational understanding of literature and a strong command of English. Each session lasts one hour: the first half is devoted to revisiting and discussing previously covered material, while the second half introduces new content tailored to the student’s interests and academic goals.
