About Ian
I am an experienced tutor and have been sharing my knowledge and experience with these subjects for the past four years. At Cornell, I have been able to grasp a greater appreciation for fully understanding a topic. I understand how the modern education system has failed to help each individual student learn and there is often no true attempt to fix that. I am a patient, dedicated student who is eager to help other students succeed.

I value the importance of demonstrating a groundwork for material before addressing the specifics. To fully understand a problem, and replicate a process, students must understand why they are performing a process.
- I will always begin my tutoring sessions with an overarching example (often practical) for the student to fall back upon. This initial exposure to the topic is critical and often called back upon throughout a session.
- I will typically include some type of diagram or sketch into my lessons as I understand that we are all visual learners to some extent. Similar to the initial exposure, this is something that I can call back upon and reference.
- Though I will have my material and lesson plan crafted before the session, I will be actively working through ideas and lessons with my students. This allows students to see the process and thought process in a tangible, active form.
- After sharing the tools and concepts necessary to solve problems, I will prove a set of questions to the student. Some of these problems will be solved in session and others can be solve outside (if so chooses). I will present these questions in a specific order and present the reminders from the earlier stages.
- With this all said, I can be as flexible or structured as the student wishes for. I can help with a problem set or to learn a specific topic. My range of knowledge covers specific science disciplines quite extensively, having taken multiple college-level courses in calculus, chemistry, physics, and biology. I have a true comprehensive understand of all STEM disciplines covered in high-school and AP level courses, as well as all materials covered throughout middle and elementary school.
Courses:
Mathematics (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus)
Chemistry (Basic, Honors, AP)
Physics (Mechanics, Honors, AP)
Biology (Basic, Honors, AP)
*Additionally, I would be willing to help with college admissions advice, in regard to writing essays, determining which schools to apply to, etc. I was accepted to Cornell University through regular decision from a public high school.
