About Jianzhi
Hi, I’m Jianzhi — a Commerce student majoring in Actuarial Studies at the University of Melbourne, and a math tutor who believes that the right support can completely change how a student sees a subject. I used to struggle with math myself until one teacher took the time to support and encourage me. Their guidance helped me focus and showed me that math could actually be fun. With that shift in mindset, I began to excel — and that experience is what drives me to tutor today. I want to be that helping hand for students who feel stuck or discouraged.

I offer a supportive, step-by-step tutoring approach designed to build both confidence and mastery. My lessons begin with a clear explanation of theory, followed by a walkthrough of an example problem. Once the concept is understood, I guide students through practice questions with increasing independence. This “handholding” method ensures a strong foundation before students tackle problems on their own.
Each lesson typically runs for 60 minutes and is tailored to the student’s learning pace and school curriculum. I currently tutor high school students in mathematics and have helped students improve significantly — including one who went from a C average to ranking first in their class.
My experience includes over a year of one-on-one tutoring across VCE Mathematics subjects, with a focus on Specialist Maths and Methods. I prioritize clarity, patience, and active engagement to help students achieve their academic goals.
