About Aaliyah

Hello, my name is Aaliyah Smith, and I am a first-year undergraduate student at the University of San Diego, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I am also a member of the executive board of the Black Women in Health Club at USD, where I am involved in supporting initiatives focused on health, education, and community engagement. Being part of this organization has strengthened my leadership skills, sense of responsibility, and commitment to helping others succeed.
In addition to my campus involvement, I am a dedicated and patient tutor who is comfortable working with students as young as 1st grade. I have experience adapting my tutoring approach to meet the needs of different learning styles and academic levels. My background in psychology allows me to better understand how students process information, stay motivated, and build confidence in their abilities. I place a strong emphasis on creating a supportive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
Academically, I have strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, particularly in English and essay-based coursework. My highest grade in college English is an A, and my essays have consistently earned scores between 95–98%. I bring these skills into my tutoring by helping students improve their writing, organization, comprehension, and overall academic performance. I am reliable, organized, and genuinely passionate about helping students reach their full potential both academically and personally.
