About Lori Kimiko
I have been tutoring since 2021, with a semester of tutoring during the pandemic. While some courses are obviously best in person, I have always been very flexible with online tutoring. I firmly believe that if given the right tools and with the right teaching methods, any student can succeed at any course. Academics should focus not just on the material, but also keeping the students engaged and intrigued. I've always been passionate about science and I love making my classrooms fun and exciting for students to learn and practice their skills. I also try to give as much outside-classroom support as my schedule allows because I hold that idea that every student deserves the most support they can receive in order to succeed academically.

Depending on what course we are working on, approaches may be different as well as tailored to the student. However, a key to any topic is developing critical thinking skills. Critical thinking is a non-negotiable when it comes to any STEM topic.
Typical lessons can include guided learning as well as individual assignments that are to be reviewed during that same session. If open, students may also receive small quizzes to practice quick thinking.
I would consider myself an enthusiastic learner and mentor. I've received many accolades from my own mentors, colleagues and former students. Students have often told me I can make any subject fun!
I primarily have experience tutoring undergradutes, but still have substantial experience tutoring grades 6-12+. My main courses include: organic chemistry I/II, pharmacology, genetics (including medical genetics), anatomy and physiology, and cellular biology courses(microbiology, neurobiology, etc.). However, as a biology major and chemistry minor, I excelled in several other chemistry, biology, and physics courses that I am comfortable tutoring.
