About Jake
Hi, my name is Jake! I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California-Santa Barbara, making the Dean's List. In addition, I was a Physics Tutor for my college's Campus Learning Assistance Services. I have learned the principles of physics and mathematics inside and out in both a classroom and a practical setting. Through my tutoring experience, I have learned what techniques and skills help students the most. Every student has unique needs and ways of learning, and I am an expert at patiently supporting all students. I myself was one question off from receiving a perfect score on the Math section of the SAT when I took it in 2019. From what I know now about the test, I am confidence I can earn any student a perfect score with the right amount of training. In my personal life, I enjoy making music, playing guitar, playing basketball, football, baseball, and ping pong.

1. I use the screen-sharing function on Zoom to teach my lessons. This way I can show students step-by-step how I solve mathematical problems. Students are encouraged to bring College Board-affiliated SAT study materials, if they have already purchased them. If not, we will be using the Khan Academy College Board-affiliated digital mathematics course.
2. I encourage students to ask questions, and will patiently respond to their individual needs until they fully understand the material. I will assigning practice tests to gauge progress and also reinforce test-taking skills.
3. Finally, to test students' understanding I will provide practice quiz questions for students. This is a helpful tool to identify which specific subject matter is not being understood. Practice problems will be completed during the session, and practice tests will be completed between sessions.
