About Zaara
Hi, my name is Zaara, and I am a UCLA Molecular Biology student with experience supporting students in STEM through tutoring, chemistry learning assistance, and chemical education research. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and math, while my teaching experience has helped me learn how to explain challenging concepts in a clear, patient, and approachable way.
As a tutor, I take professionalism seriously. I come prepared to each lesson, listen carefully to each student’s needs, and adjust my teaching style based on how they learn best. My goal is to create a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence step by step.
What makes me a strong tutor is that I understand both the student perspective and the teaching side of learning. As a UCLA student, I know how overwhelming difficult classes can feel, and as a chemistry Learning Assistant and researcher in chemical education, I have experience helping students move from confusion to understanding. I am committed to helping each student feel more confident, prepared, and capable in their coursework.

Hi, my name is Zaara, and my approach as a tutor is centered on patience, encouragement, and helping students truly understand the material rather than just memorize steps. I like to break difficult concepts into smaller, more manageable pieces and explain them in a way that matches each student’s learning style. I also use practice problems, examples, visuals, and guiding questions to help students build confidence and become more independent learners.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to see what you are currently learning, what you feel confused about, and what goals you want to work toward. Then, I review the main concept, walk through example problems step by step, and will give you a chance to try similar problems with support. At the end of the lesson, I like to summarize the key takeaways and suggest what you should practice next.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background as a UCLA MCDB student, my experience as a chemistry Learning Assistant, and my work in a chemical education research lab. These experiences have helped me understand not only science and math content, but also how students learn best. I know how important it is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
My lessons are best for middle school, high school, and introductory college students who need support in chemistry, biology, math, or general study skills. I especially enjoy helping students who feel overwhelmed by STEM classes and want to improve their understanding, confidence, and problem-solving skills!
