Hello! Nice to meet you, I’m Harrison. I’m a UCLA graduate with a degree in Cognitive Science, and I have experience teaching students and professionals across a range of ages and skill levels. My experience includes working with children in camp settings, leading professional skill workshops for university students, and training adult colleagues in technical skills. In my professional career in technology, I have also managed teams and created technical training materials designed to make complex concepts accessible to people with different levels of experience.
I specialize in beginner and intermediate SQL, particularly for students and adults who want to develop practical data and analytics skills. I focus on helping students understand the logic behind a query rather than simply memorizing syntax. Lessons can cover fundamentals such as SELECT statements, filtering, aggregation, JOINs, subqueries, CTEs, and more, with an emphasis on solving realistic problems and building confidence through hands-on practice. I am comfortable working with complete beginners as well as students who have some SQL experience but want to strengthen their understanding.
My goal in every lesson is not simply to help a student complete an assignment, but to help them develop the understanding and confidence to solve similar problems independently. I welcome students of different backgrounds and experience levels and am happy to tailor lessons to their specific goals. I am easy to reach and will respond promptly - Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
